28-year-old Tottenham star ends contract with agent ahead of January window
The Tottenham star, 28, ends his contract with the agent outside the January window.Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has officially parted ways with his agent Pini Zahavi, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The famous journalist said that the existing contract between the Danish star and his agent had expired.
Over the summer, the 28-year-old was heavily linked with a move to north London, with clubs including Manchester United, Atlético Madrid and Fulham interested. In fact, the midfielder refused to join Craven Cottage on deadline day, while Tottenham explored the possibility of signing Conor Gallagher.According to Romano, Hojbjerg has now parted ways with his agent and is now considering his decisions ahead of the January transfer window. The former Southampton star has become a key player at Spurs after arriving in 2020 for a fee of £15million. He was a constant presence in the team under coaches such as José Mourinho and Antonio Conte. However, his role has reduced since Ange Postecoglou took charge, but he has still played a good role this season after coming on as a substitute for Spurs. It would not be surprising to see Hojbjerg seek a January transfer to secure regular playing time.It seems clear that the coach prefers other choices in the Danish midfield. He relied on Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma this season. Both players dominated the pitch, especially the former, who was a regular starter at such a young age. So it would make sense for the player to look for a move in January.
Hojbjerg is set to leave in 2024 and has no shortage of potential suitors. However, the final decision may depend on whether a club meets Tottenham’s asking price or not. It remains to be seen whether these interested clubs will reignite their interest in a player they fought for in the previous transfer window.
