Italian media expresses verdict on Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie after international debut
Tottenham Hotspur full-back Destiny Udogie made her debut for Italy last night and grabbed an assist off the bench.Udogie has impressed Tottenham so far this season after returning from a loan spell in Serie A.The 20-year-old was poached by Udinese last summer but was immediately returned to his former club on a season-long loan deal.The youngster has been a sensation in the Premier League so far, providing two assists in eight appearances at left-back.
It’s certainly no surprise that Udogie was recently called up to the Italy squad for the first time and Luciano Spalletti handed him a well-deserved debut last night. Udogie replaced Federico Dimarco in the 80th minute and came off the bench to set up Davide Fratessi to help Italy win 4-0.And it’s fair to say that Udogie impressed the Italian media despite him only being present in the final stages of last night’s victory.The Italian media give their verdict on Udogie’s international debutCorriere dello Sport gave Udogie a rating of six out of ten and praised him for picking up an assist.The newspaper writes: “he is the first debutant under Spalletti’s management.”Eleven minutes to understand the effect he had, win the ball back, bringing the score to 4-0.”Calciomercato was a little more generous with the rating and gave Udogie a 6.5.They write: “Debut in blue for him, he gets wet with a nice assist for Frattesi, an example of desire, technique and physicality on the right wing, where he moved when Biraghi came on”.

The youngster was not expected to secure a starting spot so quickly after officially joining the team this summer.But Udogie is undoubtedly one of the best left-backs in the Premier League this season and has already passed some tough tests.
