‘Elizabedi’: Siya Kolisi teases fellow Springbok Eben Etzebeth [watch]

THE ‘ELIZABEDI’ NICKNAME HAS STUCK

The captain of the double-winning Rugby World Cup appears to only refer to the Boks lock by his new moniker ever since a nervous South African fan was captured on camera yelling “Elizabedi” during the quarterfinals rather than Etzebeth.

The viral Tik Tok video, which had everyone in stitches, depicts a young man watching TV as Etzebeth moves toward the try line to score a try during the Springboks’ thrilling 28-29 victory over France, the 2023 Rugby World Cup host nation, on October 15.

Ever since the iconic clip, Etzebeth has been dubbed “Elizabedi” and Kolisi is loving it.

Etzebeth has been branded “Elizabedi” ever since the famous clip, and Kolisi is obsessed.

On Thursday, November 2, during the Springboks trophy tour that began in Gauteng, Kolisi was heard yelling “Elizabedi” as the FNB Stadium crowd erupted at the sight of Etzebeth.

Kolisi was again heard using the nickname during the Springboks’ press conference after their arrival on Tuesday.

Next, on Friday, November 3, the Boks will visit Cape Town; on Saturday, November 4, they will visit Durban; and on Sunday, November 5, they will conclude their tour in the Eastern Cape, in East London.
