Springboks World Cup hero could be out until March

SpringboksAccording to the coach of Munster, the “worst-case scenario” for the return of Springboks star lock RG Snyman to the field is March of the next year.

As to Munster head coach Graham Rowntree, Springboks star lock RG Snyman is scheduled to make his comeback to the field in March of the following year, if all goes according to plan.

Snyman was hurt in his chest and shoulder after the Springboks defeated the All Blacks 12–11 in the World Cup Final. After the squad returned from France, he had surgery in South Africa.

The 28-year-old will once again have his playing time limited as he returns to Munster’s training camp in Limerick for recuperation.

Snyman’s past several seasons have been marred by serious injuries. While playing for Munster, he had two major knee surgeries, and the team is allegedly suing SA Rugby for damages related to his most recent injury.

Munster said on Monday that after his contract expires at the end of the season, the South African lock will look for a fresh opportunity to play.

Before Snyman leaves the scene, Rowntree emphasizes that he still has a significant task to complete for Munster.

In front of our group, he has been fantastic,” Rowntree told Irish media on Tuesday.

He is a member of our leadership team. He has experienced some difficult periods and struggled with injuries.

“I wish him all the best and think it was fantastic that he was able to lift a trophy with all of his friends at the end of last season.”

“He has unfinished business with us,” the coach went on. Most likely won’t get to see him till March. Even if I’m preparing for the worse, which is March, he still has a significant role to play.

“Before he leaves, he has a big job to do for us.”

However, Rowntree did receive some positive injury news: Jack O’Donoghue (ankle) and Peter O’Mahony (shoulder) are unlikely to miss much time out of action.
