Saints fans are booing Derek Carr, cheering Taysom Hill
Derek Carr has decided to block certain users on Twitter.
The honeymoon period between the starting quarterback for the Saints and their supporters is over. thudding down.
“Every time Taysom Hill steps in for Derek Carr, fans are loudly cheering, then loudly booing when Carr returns,” says NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero, who is in attendance at the game. (David Carr, Pelissero’s colleague in NFL Media, may not find this insight amusing.)
The Saints are currently 5-6 and behind the Lions 21-0 at home. However, Carr’s contract, which includes a $30 million fully guaranteed pay for 2024, means the Saints are trapped with him.
They are not required to portray him. They do, however, have to pay him unless they make a trade.
Hill, meanwhile, has been one of the offense’s few shining lights for the Saints. With his 27 rushing yards on three carries, he surpasses Archie Manning’s record of 2,073 yards to become the franchise’s all-time leading rusher without a quarterback.
