Michigan Football Receives Prediction To Land Top Transfer Target

The Wolverines are expected to sign one of their top targets through the transfer portal: defensive tackle Joey Slackman of Penn. It was earlier reported on Wednesday that Slackman would not make an official visit to Michigan, and it now seems that ship has sailed for Michigan. However, not long after that news broke, national writer Chris Hummer of 247Sports sent Michigan a Crystal Ball prediction, indicating that the Wolverines would sign Western Kentucky transfer Upton Stout. Stout, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound cornerback, started his career at North Texas, where he played from 2020 to 2021. After transferring to Western Kentucky, Stout is the 39th-ranked player in the portal and the No. 4 cornerback, according to 247Sports.

Stout can play safety as well; he has done so in college. With his size and skill, Stout is considered a potential replacement for Mike Sainristil at the nickel. According to On3, Michigan is leading with a 48.1% chance to land Stout, while USC is a program that is also hotly pursuing the position. Stout was seventh on the team in ’22 with 44 tackles and led the team with four interceptions. This year, he only played in seven games, but he still managed 29 tackles and one interception.
Michigan also has a Crystal Ball prediction to land Maryland linebacker Jaishawn Barham.
