Transfer running back C.J. Stokes said he will go to the Rose Bowl with the team, so the Michigan Wolverines will have depth in the running back room heading into the College Football Playoffs for the second consecutive season.

 

Head coach Jim Harbaugh has made a player-friendly decision by allowing his players to use the transfer portal and continue playing for the postseason. Harbaugh understands that in order to increase their chances of arriving at a location that will be advantageous to them in the future, players must enter the portal as soon as possible.

Stokes is currently the only Wolverine scholarship player to access the portal, which is probably partly due to its player-friendly design. great rushing back Dawson Edwards hasn’t disclosed his future plans, but the fact that he and another great running back Blake Corum share the spotlight suggests that Edwards will eventually make a comeback.

Early in his first season, Stokes saw some playing time, but he has since dropped to a deep spot on the depth chart. In addition to Edwards and Corum, walk-ons and even converted linebacker Kalel Mullings have seen action before Stokes.

Maalik Murphy, a quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, declared that he will be leaving his position and, in contrast to StokArlingtones, he will not be playing for his team in the College Football Playoffs.

 

 

Murphy is not leaving Texas amicably, and he is not leaving his teammates because of resentment. The way the college football calendar is set up, he is being forced to leave his team. Head coach Steve Sarkisian describes the difficult situation Murphy was placed in in an article for On3 Sports.

“If it weren’t for Maalik, we wouldn’t be here today,” Sarkisian remarked on Wednesday evening. “He helped us win two games. However, I also recognize that college football is a modern sport. That’s unfortunate that he’s been put in this situation, this position to where he’s trying to look out for his future.

He was a member of a group that was vying for the national title. There are certain flaws with the way our college football seasons are structured. With the current transfer portal, early signing period, College Football Playoff, and what it will look like when we get to 12 teams and manage that next year, we’re all learning as we go. and overseeing that for both our present players and those we hope to add in the future.

“We must not stop adapting.”

The theory is that a prospective transfer’s visitation schedule conflicts with the amount of preparation required for a college football game. If this is the case, it is unclear why Stokes is able to balance the schedule and stay with his team and Murphy is not.

Supporters are aware that Stokes faces one of the most difficult running back rooms in the nation and that his chances of getting into the starting lineup are slim. Stokes is receiving praise for his decision to remain with the squad through the remainder of the season, and he is not frequently criticized for his departure.

Many supporters honor Murphy’s choice to leave the squad early, while others argue he should stay if Stokes is succeeding in doing so. Stokes is less likely to play and, in the event that he did, his part would be much smaller than that of the other player. This is one possible difference between the two players.
