Emotional Maria Taylor trolled with Roll Tide during ‘Sunday Night Football’ maternity leave tribute
On the set of “Sunday Night Football,” Maria Taylor couldn’t contain her tears as the Jacksonville Jaguars and Baltimore Ravens game reached halftime.
Well, until the Alabama reference, of course.
Taylor recalled, “Up until the Roll Tide part, I was in tears.”
Before Taylor left for her maternity leave, the staff surprised her with a prepared message of well wishes.
The video began with messages from Mike Florio, Jac Collinsworth, and Jason Garrett. Taylor was hitting the transfer portal, Tony Dungy joked. Following up were further remarks from Devin McCourty, Chris Simms, and Rodney Harrison.
Matthew Berry offered Taylor a “Roll Tide” while sporting an Alabama sweater.
The statement alluded to Alabama’s victory over Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, which eliminated the Bulldogs from the College Football Playoff and ended their hopes of winning the CFP for a record three consecutive seasons.
Taylor, a graduate of Georgia, will be out for the remainder of the football season.
She wrote on social media, “Thank you to my NBC and (Football Night in America) Family for this wonderful send off!” “Being your Sunday Night QB week in and week out while developing as a franchise player has been incredible. Never before have I felt so grateful to be somewhere!
