Fabrizio Romano says Ange Postecoglou is ‘in love’ with Premier League star
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Ange Postecoglou is a huge fan of Conor Gallagher and that the Australian’s admiration for the midfielder is the reason why Tottenham are keen to bring him to the club.
Over the last couple of days, multiple sources have played down Spurs’ chances of being able to land Gallagher this month.
This includes Football London’s Alasdair Gold, who said a couple of days ago that talks of the Lilywhites’ move for the England international are ‘premature’.
The journalist stated that while Tottenham are keeping an eye on the 23-year-old, they are only likely to make a move for him at the end of the transfer window if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaves.
On Wednesday, Football Transfers went a step further and asserted that Spurs could walk away from the deal as Chelsea want £60m to let their academy graduate leave.

Postecoglou loves the look of Conor Gallagher
Romano has now provided an update on Spurs’ Gallagher pursuit, stating that although Postecoglou adores the Chelsea star, the two London clubs are not holding any talks over a transfer at the moment.
The journalist said on Kick: “Do Tottenham like and appreciate Conor Gallagher? For sure, Tottenham tried to bring in Conor Gallagher in the summer.
“Why did Tottenham want Gallagher? Because Ange Postecoglou, from what I’m hearing, is in love with the player, he believes he’s a top player, Tottenham really appreciate Gallagher for sure, but are Tottenham and Chelsea in talks with Gallagher? Right now, at the beginning of January? No.”
Spurs Web Opinion
It is clear that Chelsea are open to selling Gallagher for the right price and that Postecoglou is keen on adding him to the Spurs squad. There is no doubt in my mind that Tottenham will test the waters with an offer or two for the 23-year-old this month.
However, I do not see Spurs being prepared to pay over £40m-£45m for the England international and it remains to be seen if such an offer would be enough to persuade the Blues to sell the midfielder.
If the deal does go through, it will likely happen towards the end of the window as Chelsea potentially look to raise cash to fund moves for their top transfer targets.
