BOSTON, Mass. (WCVB) – NFL coach Bill Belichick said Thursday he is parting ways with the New England Patriots after 24 seasons.

Now, football lovers are running to memorabilia stores in search of Belichick collectible items – but it won’t be easy.

“I love collecting. I’m very nostalgic. I’m just coming in looking for some Bill Belichick rookie cards,” sports collector Rick Freni said.

Freni said he has a few things he’d like to add to his Belichick card collection.

“If I can, find something from when he first started with the Cleveland Browns. Maybe if there’s something from when he was with the New York Giants when he was assistant to Bill Parcells, that would be awesome,” he said.

As the now-former Patriots head coach gets ready to leave New England, fans are remembering the times he coached with Tom Brady as quarterback.

Collectors could be clamoring to get their hands on Belichick memorabilia. But Phil Castinetti, who has been in the memorabilia business for decades, said anything signed by the coach is tough to come by.

The notoriously gruff guy didn’t do a lot of autographs.

“Anything of his is a little bit expensive, and it’s only going to go up in value,” Castinetti said.

For example, ticket stubs from his first game and first win as assistant coach in New England cost between $300-$350.
