‘Legs are done’… Pundit claims £15m Tottenham player has lost all his pace

Tottenham’s current team is based around pace and energy.

Ange Postecoglou’s system depends on a high line, lots of running, lots of intensity and lots of speed.

Unfortunately, not everybody at the club suits that style.

Indeed, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has never been the fastest player in the world, and, sadly, he seems to have gotten even slower as of late as he’s spent time out of the team.

Speaking on The Spurs Chat Podcast, Lianne Sanderson has been discussing Hojbjerg and his performance against Manchester United at the weekend, and she says that the Dane looks as though his legs are done.

Hojbjerg’s legs are gone

The pundit shared her verdict on the £15m man.

“Hojbjerg, to me, both him and Eriksen, it looks like their legs are done. I’d have Eriksen in a five-a-side all day just like Juan Mata, but the game is bypassing him now, he’s offering nothing. When I see Hojbjerg there were a couple of times, his legs, you must’ve seen it, it didn’t look like he had the legs, he couldn’t get near players, one thing he will always do is compete, that is one thing he’ll always do,” Sanderson said.

Not quick enough

Technically, Hojbjerg is a truly fantastic player, but in terms of physicality, energy and speed, he is a beat behind some of his peers.

The likes of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur are full of running in every single game they play, but Hojbjerg just can’t keep up with that these days.

Hojbjerg would be able to do a job for a team that isn’t as focused on running, but, unfortunately, if you don’t have speed and energy in this Postecoglou side, you’re not going to work your way into the manager’s plans.

Unfortunately, Hojbjerg’s time at Tottenham may be coming to an end as he just doesn’t suit the team’s style anymore.
