Maik Nawrocki has returned to the fray for Celtic over the past few weeks. Stephen Welsh’s injury in the Glasgow derby allowed the Pole to get an opportunity and since then, he has not looked back.

As well as significantly contributing to last month’s pivotal triumph over Rangers, Nawrocki has started in back-to-back wins over St. Mirren and Buckie Thistle.

He has had to wait for his opportunity after four months on the sidelines but since receiving it, Nawrocki has not done himself any harm whatsoever. When playing at the back, he seems to be a reassuring presence who is more than capable of sniffing out opposition threats.

The Pole is also more than capable on the ball, having the ability to zip about a fair few accurate passes.

Over the coming weeks, he will be keen to maintain his spot in the team. When Ross County come to town on Saturday, the 22-year-old will in all likelihood get the nod again.

He is taking it game-by-game, but Nawrocki has made a pledge to the Hoops faithful, promising they can have high expectations between now and the end of the campaign: “I hope I now get more game time”, he said (The Celtic Way).

“We’re in January and the team is in a good way with the league and cup too.

“I think the fans can expect the team to do a lot.”
