Kenny Dalglish believes Brendan Rodgers will miss out on Celtic transfer demand

As the transfer window draws to a close, the need for Celtic to add quality to the first team was never more evident after watching the win over Ross County yesterday.

Despite dominating the play with over 70% of the possession and having 17 shots on goal, the Hoops still couldn’t add to the Alistair Johnston 60-second opener that was the eventual winner. [Sky Sports]

TBR Celtic told this morning how Celtic are monitoring the situation of Sydney van Hooijdonk as Brendan Rodgers looks to add that quality.

However, despite that, it seems that Kenny Dalglish believes the Hoops gaffer will not get the striker he craves and will exit the January window with just Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh as his two frontmen.

Dalglish said [The Sunday Post print edition page 88], “Brendan Rodgers has made it clear he wants to add quality to his squad.

“So far, Nicolas Kuhn has arrived from Rapid Vienna for around £3 million.

“Will Celtic add a striker to their ranks before Thursday? I’m not so sure.

“At this stage, it’s hard to get someone who will be better than the players already there.

“As long as Kyogo stays fit, they will be fine. And they have Oh as backup. But I understand Brendan’s wish to add to that area of the field.”

This is a view that will not go down well with the Celtic support. Brendan Rodgers has done nothing but go on about adding quality to his ranks this January and if Khun is the only player that is added to the squad, then serious questions will be asked by the fans.

With five days left of the window, there is no doubt the supporters will be keeping a close eye on any updates coming out of Celtic Park and refreshing their news feeds. It seems that they may not need to bother with that now after Dalglish’s comments.
