‘He’s worse’ – Journalist brutally singles out Tottenham star for his performances
Timo Werner, a January addition, has come under fire from journalist Tony Cascarino for his actions since joining the team.
Early in January, Spurs signed the former Chelsea player on a loan from RB Leipzig, with the option to buy him outright for £15 million.
He has participated in four Premier League games and assisted on two goals since joining. He appeared composed, and some of his moves were excellent.
Given the dearth of options available on the left side of attack at the time, he was signed to a short-term contract.
However, with Heung-min Son returning from the Asian Cup and Richarlison in excellent form at center forward, he may find his position as a first-team starter diminished to that of a squad member.
Son is now anticipated to start on the left side of the front three, with Kulusevski on the right and Richarlison up front.
Even if he has won over supporters and Ange Postecoglou in his brief tenure, he still needs to win over some pundits like Cascarino.
Tony Cascarino doesn’t think Tottenham has to consider Werner’s future after this season too much.
In a talkSport interview, he stated:
“I want to speak specifically about one player. Tottenham has now won the match. He changed a few things. Heung-min Son replaced Timo Werner in the game. Five games have now been played by Timo Werner. It’s not long at all. Does he resemble the player I saw at Chelsea in any way? A little bit. He’s not so good.
Says TBH:
Considering that he has only been with the team for more than a month and has only participated in five games across all competitions, the pundit’s assessment is extremely harsh. And has even assisted on two goals in those five games.
We are not sure whether Spurs will make the move permanent in the summer but it will be a low risk signing considering the fee, specially if he ends up putting in strong performances between now and the summer.
