Whit Merrifield and the Phillies agree to a one-year contract.
Whit Merrifield, an experienced outfielder and second baseman, and the Philadelphia Phillies have reached an agreement on a one-year, $8 million contract, according to several sources on Friday.
According to ESPN, the deal includes a $1 million buyout clause and a $8 million team option.
