BREAKING NEWS:Aaron Nola Of The Phillies Discusses His “Strange” Decision To Forego Signing A Free Agent Contract With the Braves.
The Braves showed interest, but Aaron Nola of the Phillies thought there was something “off” about a possible free agent deal.
Despite having many organizations interested in signing him as a free agent, Aaron Nola chose to re-sign with the Philadelphia Phillies. However, the Atlanta Braves attempted to snatch Nola away from the only franchise he has ever known before his deal with the Phillies went through.
According to Gabriel Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Nola acknowledged that the Braves were among the teams attempting to sign him as a free agent. But Nola turned down the opportunity in part because of his allegiance to the Phillies.
“The Braves had interest,” Nola said. “The business part of free agency, a lot of teams are looking for pitching. It’s part of the process, going through it and talking to teams. They were interested.”
“It would’ve been weird to wear a (different uniform), being with one team your whole career then having something else on your chest. It would’ve definitely felt weird.”
