Hyun Jin Ryu, a former Blue Jay, rejoining the Hanwha Eagles of South Korea

Hyun Jin Ryu, a former pitcher for the Blue Jays, has agreed to rejoin his former South Korean baseball team, making him the most  expensive player in the Korea Baseball Organization. The 36-year-old Ryu signed an eight-year contract worth 17 billion won ($12.8 million) to rejoin the Hanwha Eagles club, the Eagles announced in a statement on Thursday. “Since moving to the Major League, I’ve thought I would come back to Hanwha Eagles one day and return its favor… and I’m now happy that I can keep my word,” Ryu said in the statement. Ryu is scheduled to depart for Okinawa, Japan on Friday in order to participate in the Eagles’ spring training camp.
