John Lynch: With Brock Purdy, we have stability, and things are now assembling around him.

A year ago at this time, it was doubtful if 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy would be ready to play in the regular season following his tear of the UCL in the NFC Championship Game.

But Purdy was able to accomplish precisely that, leading San Francisco to Super Bowl LVIII while starting all 16 of the team’s regular-season games.

Purdy, the 49ers’ final draft choice in 2022, has solidified his position as the starting quarterback. John Lynch, the general manager of San Francisco, found solace in that fact when he spoke about it this week at the scouting combine in Indianapolis.

Having continuity in that role is a great feeling, I know that,” Lynch remarked. “People tend to forget that Brock’s first complete season as a starter was last year. With what we’ve already seen over the past few years, I believe that gives you a very good feeling about his opportunity. We’ve moved past last year in particular—the first full season after the injury as a starter. It simply instills a great deal of confidence in you.

 

It seems to be developing around him right now. It provides you with a solid base upon which to build, which is a pleasant and comforting sensation.

Right now, Purdy’s contract is the finest value in football because of his slotted rookie deal, which will only pay him $985,000 in base salary in 2024 and prevent him from signing a second contract until after San Francisco’s season is over. However, he will most likely receive a substantial raise for 2025.
