The Buffalo Bills haven’t been as busy with external moves as some would have thought. However, they have taken care of their own, and have added depth on both sides of the ball.

With the first big wave of free agency having come and gone, we can assess and grade the Bills’ moves, and pinpoint what they could mean for the team going forward. 

Few expected Epenesa to come back to Buffalo,

but it’s great that he did. The Bills signed their 2020 draft pick to a two-year, $12 million deal, which is fair money, and perhaps even somewhat of a hometown discount for the Bills. That said, Buffalo will need Epenesa to have a larger role with Leonard Floyd now gone. 

 

Final Grade: A

 

Signing WR Curtis Samuel

Samuel doesn’t fill the Bills’ need for a perimeter receiver. I imagine he’ll be used in a similar fashion to Deebo Samuel of the 49ers. He’ll be a slot guy, he’ll line up in the backfield, and while he can be put on the outside, that won’t be his predominant role. Regardless, he has 60+ catches in each of the last two seasons, and could be a fun weapon for the offense.
